We know the special requirements of the wastewater industry. Flottweg therefore decided to create a new decanter series solely manufactured for sludge separation, called the Flottweg C Series.

Flottweg Technology serves over 1000 applications worldwide. Each of these engineering processes are as individual as our Z series decanter centrifuges. From the food to the pharmaceutical industry to the processing of by-products - so specific, individual and optimized, our Z series can meet many challenges with flying colors. A decanter can be thought of as a settling basin that wraps around an axis. In the settling basin, the solid particles that are heavier than the liquid move to the bottom by gravity and form a sediment at the bottom of the basin. In the rotating drum of the centrifuge, the solid particles that are heavier than the liquid move outward by centrifugal force and form a sediment on the inner wall of the centrifuge drum. Since forces of about 3000 g occur in a centrifuge, as opposed to 1 g in the gravitational field, the separation of the solid particles from the liquid is much faster and more efficient.

Like all machine sizes in our C series, the C5E is also equipped with optimum wear protection. This reduces maintenance costs, as only wear parts need to be replaced. At the same time, this ensures a longer service life and high machine availability. The Flottweg features Recuvane® and Simp Drive® make the simple, efficient and individual operation of the centrifuge perfect.

This new decanter series combines the latest know-how in manufacturing, design and engineering with decades of experience. Thus, with the C4E environmental centrifuge, we offer an optimal solution for medium-sized wastewater treatment plants for which quality, reliability and a good price-performance ratio are important.

This equipment was developed some years ago in food processing industry. Its qualities in thickening as well as in clarifying involved the present use of this equipment in a lot of industries. It replaces now the decanters with numerous advantages : Reduced space on the floor Much better turbidity of filtered liquids Very efficient thickening Specificity of the EXOFALC filter The filter cloth is perfectly adapted to the candle size ; the low amplitude with respect to its support avoids its deformation. 

The filtered juices are not in opposition when they are removed what conferes to the candle a specific large flowrate and a juice turbidity which becomes rapidly better than with a frame filter with outlets in opposition. Recycling plastics with the Sorticanter include: ► Reduced odor because of closed system ► No influence due to the color of the solids to be sorted ► Lower thermal energy consumption, since the dewatering phase is already built into each Sorticanter. ► Minimum personnel costs, creating operating cost savings  ► Separation of mixed substances that are unsuitable for static separation (fibers) This means that no mechanical dryer (screen centrifuge) is needed. ► Processing of particles possible that are smaller than 1 mm, so no impact from fans and other interfering effects ► A low-volume circulation system reduces the consumption of fresh water, while also reducing the wastewater quantity, since contaminants are largely separated out in the Sorticanter. With a Sorticanter, it is possible to process up to 1,000 lbs or 2,500 kg of solid per hour, depending on the composition of the raw materials.

Flottweg Sedicanter separates solids from liquids. Its special feature: the solids consist of a sediment with properties ranging between soft and fluid. Typical applications of the Sedicanter are "soft products": ► Biomass, yeast and protein suspensions. ► Fermentation broths and UF retentate ► CIP cleaning liquids and coarse matter-free live sludge ► Fruit juice byproducts and plant-derived raw materials ► Soap separation from oil refining processes The special technical features of the Flottweg Sedicanter: ► Separation of extremely difficult-to-sediment solids by acceleration up to 10,000 gee. ► Hygienic design, thus usable for applications in biotechnology ► Flexibility with fluctuating composition of the feed product by the adjustable impeller ► Gas-tight operation is possible by sealing the separation space off from the ambient air using inert gas

In the process of treating waste water, fine biological sludge is constantly produced during the decomposition process at a sewage treatment plant. For a stable decomposition process in the biological treatment phase, the sludge produced in the secondary sedimentation pond, also known as excess sludge, is removed and fed into the digestion tower. Flottweg's OSE decanters thicken the sludge before it enters the digestion tower. Sewage treatment plants benefit from an even feeding of the digestion tower and can thus optimally use the volume of the digestion tower. The Flottweg OSE decanter is specially designed for sludge thickening. ► Highest gas yield through constant feeding of the digestion tower ► Best possible thickening even with changing feed conditions ► Larger sedimentation volume (due to deep pond and steep cone) enables highest power density (10 - 20 percent) with minimum space requirement

Flottweg C series decanters around the world process 25 million liters of sewage sludge per hour. The dewatering and thickening of sewage sludge plays a decisive role in the wastewater treatment process. Requirements for the quality and efficiency of sewage treatment plants increase year after year, not least driven by the increasing costs of energy and disposal. The Flottweg Z8E: The Giant Decanter With the new Z8E decanter centrifuge, Flottweg is extending its product range and setting new standards. Right from the start of development of the Z8E, the target was set of concentrating on the specific requirements of an extremely wide range of industries. The modular design of this decanter centrifuge means it is possible to adjust optimally to all kinds of separating tasks. Proven know-how meets state-of-the-art technology. This is the best way to describe the new Flottweg decanter C series. We also have the optimal solution for the very large wastewater treatment plants. The combination of our own Simp Drive® drive system, which has been in use since 1994, and Recuvane®, which allows flexible and simple retrofitting as well as targeted discharge of the centrate water, sets new standards for Flottweg in separation technology.

CTRA produces a wide range of boiler-made equipment for chemical processing, including reactors, columns, decanters, mixers, gas coolers, gas scrubbers, odour scrubbers and absorbers, as well as their internal equipment. All this boilerwork is designed by our departments to meet the dynamic and hydrostatic loads required by the various processes. Thanks to the development and mastery of materials, CTRA is able to design a wide range of boilerwork, up to 6 m in diameter, to withstand the most corrosive fluids, whether they operate in a vacuum or at high pressure, from 50°C to 200°C.

Flottweg has developed a unique centrifuge concept especially for the high-level dewatering of sewage sludge: The Flottweg Xelletor series. For the wastewater treatment plant operator, dewatering offers enormous savings potential. The costs for transport and disposal of dewatered sewage sludge often account for 80% of the operating costs of mechanical dewatering. The dewatering performance of the Xelletor machine is significantly better than that of our predecessor models. Sewage sludge dewatering offers enormous potential savings for operators of sewage treatment plants. Dewatering sludge means reducing the quantity of sludge for disposal. Depending on system capacity, 1 percent more dry substance can lead to cost savings in the five- to six-digit range. The dewatering performance of the Flottweg Xelletor Series is significantly better than even its predecessors. Transport and disposal costs, at over 70 percent, represent by far the largest cost item in sludge dewatering. A powerful dewatering assembly is thus an important criterion.
